Whitehouse Group Completes Freight Study

Whitehouse Group just developed a regional freight supply and demand analysis for the Spartanburg Area Transportation Study (SPATS) in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The analysis includes regional freight movements and infrastructure profiles and model development specifications.

The freight movement profile details the goods movement mode characteristics to, from and through the SPATS region; regional employment in freight-related industries; economic impacts; and transportation and land use connections. This profile was developed utilizing South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) traffic counts, local traffic studies, Transearch data, Freight Analysis Framework (FAF) and Commodity Flow Survey (CFS). The freight infrastructure profile details regionally-significant freight infrastructure - including truck primary routes, rest areas and designated restricted facilities; railway spurs, sidings and grade crossings; and airport facilities.

In addition to the profiles the final report provides a comprehensive summary of planned and programmed improvements impacting regional freight movements and a variety of truck model development options.
